Wunderbar (German for “Wonderful”) is a small coffee shop with a big heart and a simple philosophy, to make you feel good. Located in historic Harmony, Pennsylvania a German style hamlet just a half hour North of Pittsburgh in a picturesque area that is surrounded by museums, log cabins, rolling hills and friendly people.
The shop serves regular and specialty coffee, hot chocolate, chai latte’s, loose leaf teas and cold beverages like smoothies and Italian sodas. Light snacks include delicious biscotti from Enrico’s in The Strip along with pastries from Carol’s (Zelie) and cookies, muffins and many other goodies from Harmony bakery Stohr House.
Product quality is a priority at Wunderbar, the coffee is carefully roasted by Kiva Han in Cranberry Twp. involved and commited to improving the lives of the farmers they get their beans from via direct trade. Once in the shop, the coffee is ground on demand and brewed fresh every day. It is delicious. The tasty, fresh milk used in all drinks comes from family run dairy Windy Ridge. All natural Monin syrups add the flair and flavor. Ghirardelli Chocolate powers the amazing hot chocolates. Tea’s come from Beecher’s in Wexford and their aroma is heavenly. All providers are local, small and carefully selected.
Last but not least, Wunderbar strives to be environmentally and socially conscious. Recyclables are separated and coffee grounds are used for gardening. A large portion of the tips is donated to local community efforts and initiatives.

How the shop came to be
The shop is operated by its owners Vicky and Roc who decided to open the coffee shop heartbroken after Beecher’s in Zelienople burned down. After several years of searching for a good location opportunity, the couple were approached by their friends Josh and Dana who were looking at buying the old opera house to turn it into an environmentally conscious community center, focused on healthy living named The Center of Harmony. Previously called Otto ‘n Gerts, the space was perfect and the deal was sealed. Wunderbar opened it’s doors on January 14th, 2012.
Housed in an 1880′s built opera house and odd fellows hall, the coffee shop has an old world feel, decorated with black and white photos and yellow, red and black colors in the walls and furniture, staying in line with the German heritage of the town making it a unique space and truly “Wunderbar”.
